Partners
Local Sponsors
The four main beneficiaries of their furtherance of golf programme are the following:
• SAGA Junior Golf formerly SA Junior Golf Foundation - Nomads are the main sponsor of all the National age group championships, as well as the five National Order of Merit Tournaments played around the country.
• WGSA - The relationship between Nomads and Woman’s Golf continues to strengthen every year.
We partner with the ladies to sponsor the Annual Rose Bowl Tournament and the highlight of our year is the sponsorship of the SA Girls U 18 championships.
• Disabled Golf - Nomads are becoming more and more involved with Disabled Golf and we know that this relationship will continue to grow into the future.
Nomads’ assists with the Provincial Challenge and we now have the title sponsorship of this event.
We are very proud of our association with the SADGA FSP (First Swing Program).
This is a program that allows severely disabled children to learn about the game of golf.
• The SA Golf Development Board - This makes up the fourth leg of our partnerships.
There are ongoing discussions to find a project that fits both the requirements of the SAGDB and Nomads.
Development Golf is very important to the future of golf and we as Nomads acknowledge that whilst looking forward to a future of close involvement with the SAGDB.
It is obvious that to fund all these projects a great deal of money needs to be raised each year by each club.
By offering their services to the running of all the Sunshine Tour Tournaments around the country Nomads clubs are paid by the Tour for their efforts.
These funds so raised are then put back into the furthering of golf.
Gary Player, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Charl Schwartzel, Louis Oosthuizen and Brandon Grace as well as all the other young professional golfers playing on the circuit have benefitted from Nomads and many are honorary members of one of our clubs.

Furtherance of Golf is an undertaking by Nomads to support various sectors for the promotion and advancement of golf. Among these are; Junior golf, Women's golf, Disabled golf, Golf development, Caddie golf, and golf clubs themselves.
Funds for this project are raised mainly from the sales of raffle ticket booklets whereby the winner wins the following:
- a trip with 5 friends to attend the Million Dollar Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City
- accommodation for 6
- R2 500 spending money
- golf entry for 6
- transport to and from OR Tambo Airport
2nd prize is 5 cases of Whiskey
3rd prize 2 cases of Whisky
The draw takes place at the Nomads Nationals Tournament annually.
Each Nomads province gets to keep the funds so raised in their own province for distribution to mainly Junior golf, and thereafter for the other causes, upon applications for funding. Nomads started Junior golf in South Africa 60 years ago and still remains the major contributor and sponsor of Junior golf nationally. Our main beneficiary is the running of the Nomads Junior National Order of Merit Tournaments nation-wide, commonly referred to as NooM.
Southern Cape Nomads collect approximately R30 000.00 annually for our own juniors in the province, and also sponsor ladies/girls golf as well as our caddie league. Annually we also sponsor Disabled golf via the Carpe Diem school for handicapped children, run by Carlos Kok. We have also donated to Golf clubs themselves, by supplying a weather station, on course water points, captain’s bells, notice boards, etc.
We also apply to NATEX for extra funding to achieve our goals with these projects.
Nomads can look back with pride at what has been achieved after 60 years of involvement in the Furtherance of Golf in South Africa and the way Nomads is held in high esteem by the main amateur bodies in South Africa, being GolfRSA (the unified body of the South African Golf Association and Womens Golf South Africa), the South African Disabled Golf Association and the South African Golf Development Board.
The development of the game in South Africa is one of Nomads's basic aims and objectives and, as such, our input into this area though involvement with the major bodies has steadily increased over the years. Overall, the Nomads flag flies high and proudly in the development of South African Amateur Golf.
